Apply: Certificate
To take all 15 credits of the Forensic Toxicology, Forensic Drug Chemistry, Forensic Serology and DNA, Environmental Forensics, or Forensic Death Investigation program, participants must be registered as post baccalaureate students with the UF College administering the program. The application must be submitted complete by the term deadline (cf. Important Dates)
The Certificate in Forensic Toxicology is administered through the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Certificate of Forensic Drug Chemistry, Certificate of Forensic DNA and Serology, Certificate of Environmental Forensics, and Certificate of Death Investigation are administered through the UF College of Pharmacy.
On successful completion of their program, students will receive a University of Florida Certificate from the College in their chosen specialty.
Students wishing to subsequently pursue a masters degree at the University of Florida will then have to apply for admission to the graduate school and take the GRE. Please see the MS program requirements and application for further information.
Transfer of credits
Six credits of non-degree certificate courses can be applied toward a certificate program. Coursework from other universities cannot be accepted towards a certificate. Not more than fifteen credits will be accepted towards the transfer of credits to the Master's program. In order for the credits to be transferred to the MS degree, the following criteria have to be met:
- The coursework grades must be a B grade or higher
- The coursework taken before being in the MS status must be part of the required program of study for the MS you apply and are admitted to.
Minimum requirements for acceptance:
- A baccalaureate degree in a science subject from an accredited institution. If your Bachelors degree is not in a science subject, please email Program Assistant Nancy Toffolo at ntoffolo@ufl.edu.
- An upper-division GPA of 2.0 (C grade) or better. To calculate what your upper-division GPA is, please use the following form:
Upper Division GPA Worksheet. - A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based, 213 on the computer-based, or 80 on the internet TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) for a person whose native language is not English or for an applicant who graduated with a Bachelor's degree from a non-English speaking country.(Non-English speaking countries are those which are not included in the Graduate School's list of English speaking countries.)

The certificate programs do not qualify for any federal, institutional or school certified private loans.
For the Masters Program you can apply for federal loans or private loans. However in order to be eligible for either type of loan except for the two private loans listed above you must be enrolled at least half time. In the fall or spring semester that is five or more credit hours and in the summer it is four or more credit hours.
