Course Descriptions

Forensic Distance Education StudentThe first course is targeted at nursing professionals interested in understanding more about forensic science and crime scene investigation. The course includes:

Forensic Science for Nursing Professionals

  • Module 1: Crime Scene Investigation
  • Module 2: Hairs & Fibers
  • Module 3: Fingerprint Examination
  • Module 4: Biological Evidence
  • Module 5: DNA

The second course is tailored for working law enforcement professionals interested in enhancing their ability to understand physical evidence from a medicolegal perspective, or for health science professionals (physicians, nurses, EMTs, et cetera) interested in an introduction to the nuiances of physical evidence. This course includes:

Physical Evidence for Medical Investigators

  • Module 1: Paint & Glass
  • Module 2: Drugs & Toxicology
  • Module 3: Firearms & Toolmarks
  • Module 4: Fire Investigation
  • Module 5: Death Investigation

Each course will earn you 2 credits towards a Certificate or Masters of Science Degree in Forensic Science. Each credit costs $400 (each course $800). Note: Act now as state mandated tuition increases come into effect Fall 2009.
